EBOOK ´ EPUB Midnight’s Descendants ã South Asia from Partition to the Present Day FREE ´ JOHN KEAY ↠ ❮Download❯ ➾ Midnight’s Descendants: South Asia from Partition to the Present Day ➹ Author John Keay – FeedmarkformuS one of the world s most dynamic regionsJohn Keay is an expert on the region and the book will be the first account to incorporate the rich story of South Asia s transnational or diasporicpeoples from the overlooked narratives of the subcontinent to the rise of India as a global force Midnight s Descendants will be expansive and tumultuous in the great tradition of India s narrative epics While there are hundreds of books on the Partition of India and the last days of the Raj it is rare to encounter a post Partition survey history of the former colonies of the Raj A secondary issue with this subject is that so many of the books out there are written by historians with blatant prejudices or agenda John Keay is refreshing in that I find him neither to be an apologist for the British nor a Jai Hind fanatic Apart from India the books covers Pakistan Bangladesh Burma and Sri Lanka While the book begins with the Partition in 700 odd pages we end up with the recent democratic elections in Pakistan of Nawaz Sharif Fascinating narrative history of the finest sort; a must read for anyone interested in South Asia
