I had assumed that this book would closely reflect the TV series focused on specific houses but instead it takes a wider view of housing from a social perspective Like the TV series it constantly provokes the response 'I never realised that' The book shows that just as we tend to focus on the history of the white and powerful we also tend to miss out on the housing issues faced by poorer and less powerful people

David Olusoga is one of my favourite tv presenters Everything he does is uality and interestingI loved all three BBC series about the history of an old house in different cities where many people lived over time Fantastic idea and incredibly good delivery by David Olusoga Love it Hope to comeLiverpool the first series was excellent then came Newcastle David's home town eually good And now Bristol where David lives at present All fantasticHaving passed this info to my son who actually studied History as it happens and also lived in Bristol a few houses down the road from the house in uestion I bought David and Melanie Backe Hansen's book following the BBC Programme as a Christmas present I know he will love it
